Teaching Assistant – 1:1 support of Year 3 Autistic pupil within the Margaret Coates Centre 30 hours Teaching Assistant per week, Term Time Only and 2.5 hours School Meals Supervisory Assistant.

The Margaret Coates Centre is at the forefront of Autism teaching practice and research and is the only provision in the local area to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.
Applications are invited from excellent practitioners to join our team here at Margaret Coates Centre, part of St Martin’s Garden Primary School, specifically to support a Year 3 child with autism to access the curriculum.
Teaching Assistant 30 hours per week Grade P £16,781 - £17,419 pro rata, pa
SMSA 2.5 hours 30 mins per week Grade Q11 - £15,807 pro rata, pa
Mon - Fri - 8.30 am-3.30 pm which includes a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak.
You will need to have recent experience of working 1:1 with a child on the autistic spectrum, or with small groups of children, and a clear understanding of the needs of AS children. You will be keen to learn about sensory support or already have knowledge of how sensory issues can affect children with autism. You will need to be caring and sensitive to the needs of the children as well as flexible and confident to deal with challenging behaviour. You will be expected to support the child for a range of activities and work as part of a close knit team.
Induction, training and support is available for the successful candidate.

This is a temporary appointment to provide support in respect of a named child and will continue pending review of the EHCP or the child’s departure from school, if earlier.
