"The author visits are really fun and exciting". "Trips are great because we can explore and have some fun" (Year 5 pupils)

At St Martin's Garden we believe that learning should be exciting and not just in the classroom.  Children have many opportunities throughout the year to participate in a wide range of trips, events, workshops and extra-curricular activities designed to enrich their learning.  We invite a number of interesting visitors to come into school and inspire the children.  This includes authors, artists, theatre groups, musicians, sports coaches and the fire, lifeboat and police services. Children also have opportunities to take part in community events alongside other local school, such as festivals, sports' tournaments, competitions and fundraising.

Children have the opportunity to participate in a number of school trips throughout the year.  As well as contributing to their learning, we recognise the valuable contribution that our school trips make towards pupils' personal and social education.  Trips are organised by the class teachers, and include visits to places of interest linked to their curriculum and topic work, sporting activities and some are just for fun.  We have a whole school day outing in the summer term. Year 6 children have the opportunity to go on a week's residential trip which takes place in June.

The cost of trips is subsidised by the school and the PTFA as much as possible and we aim to keep costs to parents to a minimum.
