The School Governing Body

The Governors work in close partnership with the Head Teacher and staff to ensure that the children gain the richest educational experience possible, whilst being part of a warm and caring environment.  The main role of the school Governors is to support the Head Teacher and staff in making strategic decisions required to maintain and raise school standards. This includes targets, curriculum, policies, school finance, staffing and premises. The two key documents used for this are the School Development Plan (SDP) and the Self Evaluation Form (SEF). The SDP sets out the strategic plan for the school, with targets that everyone works towards, and the SEF sets out how well the school is doing and where we aim to make improvements.

The school's Governing Body meets as a full group six times a year.  Each of the 4 committee groups, Finance, Personnel and Pastoral, Curriculum and Site, meet with the Head Teacher prior to the full meeting, to discuss their specific areas, find out how the school is progressing towards its targets and prepare a report for the full Governing Body.

Governors regularly visit the school and each month one of the Governors spends a day in school focussing on an area of interest to them, where they are able to observe and talk to staff and children.  Their observations are reported to the Governing Body and action taken where required.

Our Parent Governors, Rilla George, Sharon Nightingale, Nicola Doman and Ruth Haynes, are often available in school and would always be happy to talk to parents about any aspect of school life.

There are 12 Governors currently on our Full Governing Board consisting of the Headteacher, 4 parents, 2 local authority, 3 community, 1 staff and 1 teacher.
