Gold Class KS2

Key Stage 2: Gold Class

Gold Glass teacher is Lisa Carey-Woolls, supported by a team of two permanent qualified teaching assistants, Lisbet Shears and Alison Fussell.

Within Key Stage 2,  the expectation is that the children will be working from a personalised curriculum in line with the National Curriculum.  Each child works at their own level in each subject area and if possible will attend the mainstream school for part of their day for an area of strength. If this is not possible then the curriculum is run in parallell with the main school, as appropriate.

The children continue to have their own work stations and some follow their own schedule.  Although play continues to be important for Key Stage 2 children, here there is more of an emphasis on children recording work and becoming confident independent learners. The goal is that each child will become aware of, and participate in, their own targets for learning.

As for both classes there is an emphasis on active learning so the children have access to up to date ICT equipment, go out for visits, have visiting specialist teachers

By the time a child leaves Margaret Coates centre it is our aim that they develop a positive attitude to themselves as learners and feel that they are independent, valued human beings.
