Key Stage 1 (5-7 years)

Cherry Tree and Plum Tree Classes

Year 1, Cherry Tree Class, and Year 2, Plum Tree Class, make up Key Stage 1.

The skills and experiences in the Foundation Stage are built on as the learning journey continues through the school.

The principles of the Foundation Stage are used within the first two terms of Year 1. By Christmas the majority of children are operating within the National Curriculum.

St Martin’s Garden Primary School currently supports ‘Every Child a Reader’ and ‘Reading Recovery’, an accelerated programme to support children whose may find reading a bit tricky.

The teaching and learning provides a broad, relevant and differentiated curriculum which helps and motivates pupils to develop lively, enquiring minds, encouraging them to question and apply themselves to tasks and physical skills.
